Korean and Catholic Wedding at the Columbus Museum

Love and thankfulness for each other, their families and their friends was a major theme throughout Kimberly and Peter’s wedding in Columbus, Georgia. Although the Catholic ceremony at Church of the Holy family was very classic, the wedding day was also so unique in many ways. Most notably the Korean Paebaek. Having both ceremonies was extremely important to Kimberly and Peter so being able to incorporate the Korean ceremony, put on by Hanbok Nara out of Atlanta, was a dream.

The bride’s flowers inspired much of the wedding color palette and the bouquet had an assortment of family heirlooms and special items. For the reception, the couple selected a classic but entertaining venue at the Columbus Museum. The art galleries were open, and a live band brought some excitement. The gold accents and natural flowing florals added elegance to a lively setting. All events were shot by Eliza Morrill Photography.

The Bride’s Favorite Parts

For me, my dad walking me down the aisle and having the father-daughter dance was an extremely important memory. He was an amputee with a prosthetic leg, so making the trip down the aisle was a big deal for him. He has recently passed away, so I will forever cherish those memories. The Korean ceremony was such a fun experience! The whole family was involved on both sides from grandparents to cousins. The dates and chestnuts thrown were symbolic of how many children Peter and I are supposed to have. After catching as many as we could with the fabric, it was a big running joke for the day that we were going to end up with 15 boys and 19 girls. We got to have our dog Russell as a part of our day which was extremely important to us. He is basically our first son (we’ll count him as one of the 15), and he added so much joy to our day as he always does. By the end of the long day of having 2 ceremonies, it was just awesome to get to have a giant party and dance to a love band in an art museum with all of our family and closest friends. It was truly a day of pure joy and bliss. I remember being nervous about everything working out right at the beginning of the day, but as soon as Peter and I had our first look, all I could do was just smile out of pure happiness for the rest of the day. All of our vendors were so excellent and professional. We didn’t have a worry in the world because they had it all taken care of. If I could relive that day every day, I would. It was truly the best day ever!
