Wedding Designer Feature: Sarah Seven

Imagine the perfect wedding dress for the true modern bride: a boho-chic, vintage-inspired gown tied with whimsical, romantic accents. Put it all together and you’ll get a Sarah Seven gown. All designs are made to order and created with Seven’s signature fit (see also: Finding the Ideal Wedding Dress Fit for Your Body).

How It All Began for Sarah Seven

Seven knew design was calling her name early on, so she decided to attend design school in Oregon. She took a few pattern-making and draping classes before testing out her own designs, and she was hooked.

Seven hit a lucky streak when she started selling dresses on Etsy—her designs really took off and she started her own line in 2006. The clothes weren’t bridal to start with, but after she received multiple requests for dresses in white, her business quickly moved in that direction.

How Sarah Seven Got Into The Bridal Industry

Seven’s goal for her line was to make something beautiful for the bridal world: no fuss; just flattering, feminine designs. Each line has its own theme—she always starts with the silhouette and goes from there. The designer says her customers are her constant inspiration along with where she’s lived and traveled, what music she’s listening to, and which fabrics catch her eye.

With three different lines to choose from, brides have endless style options for their big day. As mentioned before, Seven gowns are known for their feminine silhouettes, but they also feature hand-stitched details and airy, luxurious fabrics like French lace and chiffon.

Beyond wedding dresses, the brand also sells ready-to-wear clothes and accessories—including headbands, necklaces, veils, and more.

The Sarah Seven collection is designed for the bride who wants to elevate her look and feel fancy. The gowns are super chic and made to fit your every curve. The strapless Caterina gown is understated with a hint of sexy. The polka dot gloves add a whimsical touch.

Channeling a modern Grace Kelly, the skirt on the Emilia gown is airy and dramatic. The Elena gown is stunning—the off-the-shoulder sleeves paired with the puff sleeves are amazing, and the sheath skirt creates a feminine silhouette.

Taking minimalism to the max, the Bride. line is luxurious and intentional. The collection, inspired by Seven’s trip to Vienna, embodies a woman’s fashionable spirit. The Charline slip dress is made with the finest satin, and Cody is full beauty in a ball gown. But the Devon gown is the shining star: from the angled train to the awesome back detail, it’s a truly stunning design.

Finally, the Before. collection. These ready-to-wear designs are true to their name—meant to be worn before the big day, or for those low-key nuptials (think civil chic). We’re digging the floral sequined Mia midi dress. The Antonia jumpsuit is super comfortable with adjustable straps, an open back, and a stretch-satin, high-neck top.

For a modern dress that still feels bridal, the Gina mini is a great choice. The details are super fun: the one shoulder with the long sleeve, an asymmetrical backline, and structured bodice. We’re totally in love!
