From Maddie Mills Photo: “If a wedding day makes you feel as though you're floating on air, then getting married at The Doctor's House definitely makes you feel as though you're in another world, removed from the hustle of everyday life. What started as a personal vacation home for a doctor and his wife has been restored and transformed into a historic destination wedding venue in the province of Newfoundland. Surrounded by the fresh forest air, with little peeks of the ocean horizon coming through the trees, April and Jason said their I Do's. They joined two beautiful families into one and celebrated the bond they already share with their beautiful little boy. Happiness was in abundance with these guys as we frolicked by the ocean, went for a dory ride, and danced the night away in a barn loft!”
A rustic and romantic wedding at The Doctor's House in Newfoundland, Canada
We were on a family trip to our cousin's summer home in Ontario. Joined by family and our our son, Blake. When the weekend was over, Jason and I along with my brother and his friend headed down to downtown Toronto for a few days. As we were heading to the Blue Jays game my then-boyfriend asked me to come up to the rooftop of the condo building. The scenery was beautiful having the CN Tower behind us. He then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. We then headed to the Blue Jays game engaged!
About the Wedding
Our wedding was held at what is called “Newfoundland's hidden gem” – it's a rustic barn loft overlooking the ocean with an old beautiful house and outside garden. This place is breathtaking. Our vision was a rustic but elegant country feel wedding which this place provided in every way, including animals roaming the property.
Seeing my son all dressed up in his tux, seeing my husband-to-be smile as I walked down the aisle, seeing how happy our families were and all the family and friends that joined in sharing our special day.
