With a shower of rose petals, a neutral palette, gorgeous veils and gowns, and a one-of-a-kind industrial backdrop in Detroit, this ballet-inspired styled shoot from N. Kristine Photography is just stunning! From Nicole:
We loved pairing the graceful ballet movements with the language of the flowers, the spirit of the textured veils, and drape of the gowns. We experimented with a lot of different combinations — a bride’s look should never be limited to what she thinks a bride needs to look like. In the end, all brides have one thing in common: the look that comes with the beauty and grace of being loved and being in love.
A ballet-themed veils en pointe wedding inspiration shoot in Detroit, MI
We shot in Detroit, Michigan, a place many entrepreneurs feel a great connection to — a place of growth, hope, and a currently booming industry for the arts. There is a spirit you cannot deny about the city that makes you feel alive and ready to go do something. We chose the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant as the location. It has true roots to the city; the building once held the original assembly line for Ford’s Model-T. It’s a majestic location with a bit of grunge and many details that matched our color story.
We spent a ton of time giving credit to the trueness of our ballet inspiration. Each decision made and every pose captured was scrutinized before being chosen to be featured, including one of our models who was classically trained in ballet under professional ballerinas, @aunak.
We paired the outfits with gorgeous handmade veils, vintage jewelry, other ballet inspired shoes, a confetti of rose petals to dance upon, and two soft bouquets – one specifically made to be held downwards for traditional ballet movements by the lovely and talented Bloom Floral Design.
The jewelry was a collaboration of family heirlooms from within our team. The clip on rhinestone earrings passed down from a grandmother and a stunning emerald cut aquamarine with a gold band paired perfectly with a peach Mrs. Box. The invitation suite was handmade by Ink-Stained Minstrel, with soft watercolors and calligraphy.
Our goal was to achieve strong, romantic, editorial images that brides can collect for their own inspiration boards. We hope to inspire them to never skip out on a veil and remember that the most graceful thing a bride can be on her wedding day is simply in love.
