After getting ready at the Ace Hotel in New York, Nicole and James had an intimate wedding ceremony in a cozy historic church followed by a reception at an indie non-profit bookstore! James is from Ireland originally and his family all came over for the wedding, so it was fitting that guests were treated to a double-decker bus tour between the locations, complete with a guide. Everyone enjoyed a delicious, sophisticated sit-down dinner with plenty of time dedicated to toasts and storytelling. Sarah Tew Photography captured their awesome celebration!
A hip bookstore wedding with vintage flair in SoHo, NY
Our venues determined our aesthetic to some degree. We quickly realized we needed to give the design a vintage feel if we wanted it to mesh with our locations. We also wanted to add a bit of theatrical flare, so I was happy to hit upon the idea of combining a Victorian-era frame with marquee lights. We decided on red tablecloths because of how the red looked against the Bookstore's dark wood details, and blue for the invitations. In other words, we didn’t have set wedding “colors.” In the end, we reused the Victorian frame and marquee light motif in our signage to help everything hang together. – Nicole
