The Proposal
“Brett had a plan on our 8th anniversary to have a romantic weekend where we first met in San Diego, Ca. He had bought a baby clam shell, boiled and cleaned it, and then put my ring inside and glued it shut. He’d been thinking of having a casual stroll on the beach that evening and was going to “find” a clam shell on our walk and then propose. Once we arrived in SD it was pretty chilly. Halfway through our walk, I decided I was too cold to keep going and insisted on heading back toward the hotel to get warm and maybe order a pizza for the night! We did that, and Brett had to improvise, so he put the clam shell inside our pizza box! I was so confused at why the clam shell was in there?! I wouldn’t eat the pizza, thinking that some kid had played a prank on us or something, but Brett was still so determined to open that shell! I was watching a movie and eating the salad when all of sudden he yelled, “I got it! Babe! Look what was inside!” I was so alarmed I refused to look, thinking there would be a dead baby clam in there! Finally I looked over and to my surprise Brett was on one knee with the beautiful antique ring inside the clam. I was so shocked and tears started to flow instantly. It was such a great surprise and now, the pizza clam shell story will forever be a memory that hopefully one day we can pass on to our kids.”
The Wedding
“Our wedding was so magical. My mother-in-law planned all of it for us. It was a rustic, bohemian vibe set in the mountains of northern Idaho. The ceremony was on Lake Pend Oreille on the family’s dock and the reception atop their barn down the road. Every little detail was thought of and most everything was either antique or hand made by my mother-in-law.”
