Michelle and Fred’s summer wedding in Cape May is so vibrant and full of light and life! The quaint, nautical setting of Cape May was the perfect backdrop for their coral and teal-hued celebration, particularly Congress Hall. They added small DIY touches throughout the day, such as a candy bar featuring their favorites from local candy shops, and displaying photos from places they traveled together in lieu of table numbers. A summer Cape May beach wedding in cheerful hues
When Fred and I got engaged in Martha’s Vineyard two years ago, we pictured a wedding on the beach and a venue that would fully encapsulate the nautical seaside elegance of Martha’s Vineyard. We knew we wanted to share our special day with as many family and friends as we could, so we looked for a place closer to home to celebrate. We really wanted our wedding to be a little getaway for our guests without them having to travel too far.
It didn’t take long for us to settle on Cape May. I had spent many summers there with my family while growing up. I fell in love with Cape May’s beautiful Victorian houses, the great shops and restaurants that line Washington Street Mall, and of course the pristine beaches. Cape May has always held a special place in my heart. We both share amazing memories there and couldn’t think of a better location to get married. Congress Hall, with its Victorian charm and rich history, was the obvious choice for us and the ideal setting for our seaside wedding. I remember thinking long before we got engaged what a perfect wedding venue Congress Hall would be, so to actually get married there was amazing. The grand lawn overlooking the ocean was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our ceremony.
The most amazing part of the day was being able to share it with our one year old daughter, Mia. I think I was more excited about seeing her walk down the aisle then I was for myself! Running into the ocean with my husband in my wedding dress was pretty awesome, too (you only wear it once, right?). It was an amazing day in one of our absolute favorite places, and we got to share it with a bunch of people we loved. I really couldn’t have asked for anything better, and I would do it all over again if I could! – Michelle
