Molly and Andy exchanged vows at the Darlington House, a charming spot in San Diego with vintage flair and romantic courtyards. Molly chose a palette of cobalt, sage, celadon and slate to complement the setting, and the motif was designed by one of the bridesmaids using flowers as inspiration. Almost all of the decorations and details were handmade, from the guestbooks, which doubled as table numbers, to the seating charts and programs. Their celebration had a bit of whimsy, too, in the form of beach balls and a barbershop quartet! D.Lillian Photography captured their day.
A charming summer Southern California wedding
While I have countless favorite moments from our day (from our “beer” unity ceremony to the Disneyland Dapper Dans performance or our beach ball photo shoot on the sands of La Jolla), my favorite has to be rounding the corner and seeing my best friend at the other end of the aisle. I received by email a beautiful piece of advice the night before the wedding from a family member. She wrote,”When you are standing there with your father, about to walk down the aisle to take your life long vows, take a good minute to just stand there and look down the aisle at the people and at the beautiful face of the man you love. You will never have another minute like that. It is a beautiful memory of mine that I visit often. I remember feeling so lucky, so happy… so blessed… and so loved.” While I listened to my dad tell me jokes down the aisle to keep me from crying, I held onto that advice and tried my best to capture those feelings of happiness, blessedness, and unconditional love. There is nothing like that moment and I will never forget it. – Molly
