Christine and Lars never expected rain on their wedding day, but the photos they took in rain boots with chickens more than made up for it! They tied the knot at The Riverland, a family-owned property in Utah with more than 20 ponds and access to the Upper Provo River. Their ceremony was performed by a childhood friend of the bride, and they included the story of how the couple met and when they each knew the other was “the one.” The stunning floral designs, arbor and accompanying décor were all inspired by the foliage of autumn. In keeping with the natural beauty of their celebration, their menu featured fresh local vegetables and a whole roasted pig, along with a minimalist wedding cake decorated with fresh flowers and their initials. In honor of Lars' love for home brewing, each guest left with a clever customized pint glass with a picture of a groom on his knees handing the bride a credit card. A charming horse farm wedding in Woodland, UT
I would say my inspiration for the wedding came from my husband and the venue itself! He detests the spotlight and I wanted a wedding we could both enjoy! We started by limiting the guest list to family and a few friends – most of whom would be traveling from out-of-state, which is also why we selected Labor Day weekend. I thought having the wedding over Labor Day would give guests greater flexibility with traveling as well as a fun vacation! It’s not hard to show people a good time at the Riverland either! The big open deck and field were perfect for ping-pong and lawn games! We also had a huge fire pit, which was perfect for s’more roasting and staying warm! The kids had a ball playing games, dancing, and roasting s’mores!
We virtually customized everything about our wedding to make it reflect us and to make it as simple as possible! From writing the ceremony to the flow of the evening, to having about a dozen lawn games available for people to play, to the customized pint glasses, we definitely put our stamp on it! The Riverland is just about as personal as it gets! It served as the “hub” for the weekend’s festivities. About a dozen relatives and friends ended up staying at the property. Not only was it great to have so much help around but it was also another chance to hang out with everyone! The wedding was a team effort in every sense of the word! – Christine
