The Dance of Spring

The Dance of Spring is a breathtaking ballet-inspired bridal shoot in a gorgeous mansion in the heart of Saint Petersburg, Russia, from Olesya Ukolova Photography! The ballerina dances in two different gowns – one a delicate, dusty blue and the other, a spectacular combination of lace and layered ruffles, accented by handmade hair accessories. From Olesya: “I’ve always wanted to shoot a professional ballerina and this was the moment for it. The ancient Palma Mansion in the centre of Saint-Petersburg, built in 1886, gave us permission to shoot in their ballroom with its beautiful natural light and giant chandeliers. This was the perfect fit for our idea. The story we wanted to tell with our photoshoot is about the dance of spring. The beautiful wedding gown is all embroidered with flowers and birds and by looking at it, you feel the upcoming spring season. The movements of our young dancer imbue the viewer with feeling of a fresh breeze of spring air, and the barely audible rustle of silk skirts and light tapping of pointes on the wooden parquet of the ballroom. It looks like she is trying to show that spring is always in our hearts, we just need to call her.”
