This fabulously cheerful and sweet sunny wedding styled shoot from Lauren Dobish Photography and Katydyd Events provides brilliant inspiration for planning a gorgeous surprise wedding! From Katydyd Events: “Celebrities are the only ones to throw surprise weddings, right? It could not be farther from the truth. How does an everyday couple achieve this fairly difficult task? All it takes is a bold couple & design. Our photographer, Lauren Dobish, was inspired by a floral print pair of Keds designed by Rifle Paper Company. These beautiful shoes galvanized our color palette of yellow, cream and grey. A bride who is going to rock a pair of kicks on her wedding day would want to show them off and not be lost under a sea of white. Our bride wore a yellow jumpsuit from Urban Outfitters while our groom wore a wooden bowtie & menswear from ASOS.”

As guests arrive for a surprise wedding, signage is key! We kept it creative and fun incorporating touches from our theme for the signs. They were decorated with the floral design from the sneakers and the wording tied into our bourbon inspired theme. They led our guests to the ceremony which took place on the deck of the beautiful barn of Willow Spring Vineyard in Massachusetts. As Lauren & I are both dog lovers, we wanted to incorporate man’s best friend into the shoot. Baron the Berner (the florist’s puppy coincidentally) stepped in, to be the best man, floral collar & all.
After the conclusion of our ceremony, it led to the picnic reception indoors. Guided to their picnic spots by bourbon tasting glasses, they sipped on a local bourbon from Smoky Quartz Distiller in New Hampshire. The bride and groom drank their ‘preferred poison’ cocktails of Bourbon & Honey Ginger Fizz and a Maple Old Fashioned. These drinks were complemented by the bourbon-infused gummy bears as gifts for their guests.
And as we all know, good parties end with dessert! The couple feasted on lemon and blueberry cake decorated with real flowers.
