Ashley and Nick met in high school, and they were together for almost six years before getting engaged! Their spring engagement session with Studio127 Photography was at the Grange Audubon Center in Columbus. Ashley’s boho style was perfectly complemented by her flower crown!
A romantic spring Audubon engagement session in Columbus, OH
We got engaged on a warm day in October. I am a wedding photographer, so he had his work cut out for him. I am surrounded by beautiful weddings and romantic proposals… No pressure, right!? Well, thankfully Nick knows me so well and that I’m pretty simple when it comes to this kind of stuff. I don’t need rose petals or elaborate dinners, I just want us in our life being us. So, us and six of our friends hopped in the back of our 1969 Ford pick-up truck and headed to Lynd’s Fruit Farm to pick apples and pumpkins. We’d had this planned for weeks. I rarely ever get Saturdays off during wedding season, so I was looking so forward to these fall festivities with our friends! We started out in the pumpkin patch. I like to take my time. I love picking apples/pumpkins. So I was wandering around, searching for the perfect pumpkin and taking photos of our friends. Meanwhile a huge black cloud is over head (remember we all rode in a pick-up truck bed!) Nick was completely on edge “hurry up Ashley, come on!” And I of course was like “No, I’m having fun, no we’re staying.” Obviously I know now that he was nervous and anxious to get us to “the spot” where the magic was about to happen. We headed over to the apple orchard… by the way, Lynd’s Fruit Farm is a place that Nick and I frequent. We go every single year and it truly is one of my favorite things to do in the world. We picked a few apples, and then Nick said “Hey, let’s take a picture.” (Not uncommon since I have my camera with me at all times). So we walk over to “the spot” and he gets down on one knee, and I just melted. I had an apple in my hand and in my mouth the whole time. I never thought he would propose in front of our friends since he’s such a private/shy guy. So I was definitely surprised! It was truly perfect for me/us. We have amazing photos from that day that I will cherish forever. The ride home it of course poured down rain soaking all of our friends and creating the most amazing memories. We came back to our house and celebrated with friends and family. It was the best! – Ashley
