Ken and Nick were married in July at Lincourt Winery in a lovely rustic celebration with a muted color palette and lots of antique details, coordinated by Tyler Speier Events and captured by Vita Bella Photography! Ken is an interior designer (and he also did all of their floral arrangements), and Nick is in the film industry, and they wanted their wedding to be a “victory party” since they both advocated for the right to marry. Prior to marriage equality, they had to maintain an overseas relationship (Ken from Texas and Nick from London), as they were unable to be together due to unequal marriage and immigration laws.

Their wedding ceremony featured their dog, Liberty, as the ring bearer, as well as a fire ceremony accompanied by drums performed by the local Chumash Indian tribe. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers in the Barrel Room. Dinner was served under the stars, and guests danced the night away underneath a DIY canopy of flags created from the pages of antique Shakespeare books. Each table was named after a different kind of wine, and they were covered in custom-made burlap linens and lace. All-white and ivory seasonal blooms were used, with succulents interspersed to provide varying textures. Ken and Nick commissioned several customized wedding details, including napkin rings, wine charms, chalk signs and place cards. For dessert, guests enjoyed a British/American candy bar. Following the celebration, guests were shuttled to a local bar for dancing and fun long in to the night!
