Jani and CJ's summer wedding at Deer Valley Resort was a multicultural celebration bursting with color and fun details! Jani is of Sri Lankan descent, and CJ is Greek, so they had a ceremony to honor each of their family's histories. The color palette was based on peacock feathers, and Jani wore two dresses: a silk taffeta Amsale gown and a custom-made Lenga from India! Guests were also treated to Jordan almonds, all handmade by family and friends at a koufeta party (in Greek culture it's called koufeta and each almond has a meaning). Pepper Nix Photography captured their awesome celebration!
I got the idea from loving the rich colors in peacock feathers and wanting to integrate Sri Lanka into our Greek/American/Sri Lankan heritage. Also, the colors are not girly and didn't make the wedding day just about me and my taste. CJ loves blues and darker colors so it combined both our tastes. We did the drapes on the ceiling because I wanted the feeling of the mountains but not so log cabin. We also did blue water in the vases for blue waters of Sri Lanka. The centerpieces were different too because we are just not traditional and wanted to be different. CJ was a huge influence in the design of the decor. I was shocked when we went to the meetings and he would have these amazing ideas.
I loved pretty much our whole wedding. We had fun and danced and partied the whole time. If something was wrong I didn't even pay any attention. My father passed away when I was small so I made it a point not to cry and make it about him not being there but having a great time celebrating life for him. We did laugh really hard when our best man Lee Davis and maid of honor Dana Fenerin did their speeches because both of them were so funny. -Jani
