The Proposal

“My husband and I were both attending Auburn university. He was finishing up his bachelor's and I was completing my master's. The day before his graduation we were scheduled to meet his parents at my apartment (where they would be staying for the duration of their visit) and then head to dinner. Korey and I had spent the entire day together, away from my apartment. Little did I know that this was on purpose. As we arrived to my apartment that evening, I was under the impression that his parents should be arriving shortly and we would wait for them. As I opened the front door, I was greeted with hundreds of candles and rose petals. The two things created a path to my room. I followed the path with Korey close behind. I opened my bedroom door to see dozens of pictures, our pictures, hanging from my ceiling, more candles and rose petals and a ring box in the center of my bed. Korey grabbed the box, got down on one knee, and the rest is history!”

The Inspiration

“I had always had an idea of what I wanted my wedding to be like. I wanted it to be outside, with a simple but rustic, elegant touch. I don't know that I stuck with a specific theme or style, I just chose what I liked and it all ended up working well together! I loved the color combo of navy, gold, and touches of coral.

“As for my venue, it was love at first site. Korey and I had visited a number of venues only to be left unimpressed and wanting more. As soon as we walked up to the chapel and looked down at the beautiful outside Indigo Falls venue. We fell in love. It was decided then and there.”

Favorite Moments

“The entire day is a favorite memory. I loved spending the morning in the bridal suite with my bridesmaids, my best friends. I loved taking all of the group pictures with them and capturing such special moments. I loved walking around the corner and seeing the crowd that was made up of friends and family. I will never forget making eye contact with my now husband for the first time as I made my way down the aisle feeling nothing but peace, love, and excitement. I loved sharing our “I do's” in front of all of the important people in our life. I loved celebrating with all of the best people and being sent off by sparklers. I couldn't pick just one moment, because they all made up the best day of my life.”

The Attire, Flowers, Cake & Favors

“My wedding dress was one of my favorite things about my wedding day. I felt like a princess and received so many compliments on it. I searched for my dress first and then built everything else around it. The bridesmaids dresses were all the color of navy, but were a mixture of different sleeves and necklines. I loved the mixture, it did not look too uniform. Korey chose charcoal grey suits for the guys. It looked amazing paired against the navy!

“My flowers, ugh, they were gorgeous. When I first met with Gail, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I had a blurry image in my head, but even trying to articulate that was a challenge. As I sat and talked with Gail, it was like she was reading my mind. She created the most beautiful bouquet, more than I could have asked for. The bridesmaids bouquets were simple baby's breath bouquets, but they couldn't have been more gorgeous.

“My aunt actually homemade our wedding cake. We knew that splurging on a huge wedding cake wasn't what we wanted, so we opted for a dessert table and asked my aunt if she would make our cake. She is super talented! She did a wonderful job and the cake looked and tasted as great as I hoped!

“Korey and I are HUGE coffee drinkers, so we decided to do coffee beans as favors. We bought these precious favor bags on Etsy from IzzyandLoll. We filled them with whole coffee beans. It smelled amazing!”

Personal Details & Family Heirlooms

“I loved having pictures of ourselves and our late family members. It added a personal touch. I also made our seating chart out of poster board, covered with fabric, and then spray painted dollar general picture frames. I also loved adding decorations from all of our showers and even our proposal. It was like everything came around full circle.

“I had my late mother and grandmother's wedding pictures on the very front pew. It was like they were there with me. I also had my mother's veil. It was so meaningful and I loved it. I also had my mother's glove she wore in her wedding, a pair of earrings she left for me that I received the day of my wedding, as well as her best friend's mom's straight pin. I had all three pinned in the underskirt of my dress. I also had a cross pendant safety pinned to the inside of my dress right over my heart. The cross pendant belongs to my now sister-in-law; she wears it every day.”
