Lea pulled this “Fun and Frivolity at the Carnival” styled shoot together after creating an inspiration board channeling the grace and beauty of the 1940s and 50s through silver screen legends like Rita Hayworth and Greta Garbo (and more recently, Drew Barrymore). The carnival grounds are the perfect backdrop for that era, don't you think?
Lea says, I made the birdcage veil and added a powder blue tissue paper flower and red and white feathers and believe the veil was a great representation of the era I was looking for. To add a little twist, I decided that the groom should play the role of a character and hence the look of the carnival worker with the braces, button down shirt and top hat. I sent my inspiration board to the hair stylist and makeup artists who interpreted the looks for both bride and groom perfectly on the day of the shoot.
The setting had a huge role to play in capturing the images I wanted. Using the backdrop of the carnival grounds really gave the photos life… We even found a 1950s powder blue FJ Holden (a very iconic Australian car). The brooch bouquet and button hole provided by Design Me Vintage was a last minute addition to the shoot. Her design was perfect and stood out with such contrast to the gorgeous vintage lace strapless gown provided by Sashay.
Willow Tree Creative Services is a boutique wedding and event management and photographic styling business from Brisbane, Australia, but they are always open to working worldwide. Many thanks to Lea for sharing this amazing and inspiring shoot!
